Luo De Xiu Paris seminar schedule, Paris July 3-5th 2009
I’m glad to say that we have scheduled Luo De Xiu’s seminar this year. If you want to see and learn from one of the most skilled martial artists of his generation and an exceptionally clear teacher then keep reading.
Whether or not you practise Gao style Bagua you can learn an immense amount from watching Luo. The martial applications that he shows are based on clear principles that you can adapt to any art. Luo has an extremely down to earth approach to training, and does not make the art more complicated or mysterious than it needs to be.
The quality of Luo’s body movement, which is light and nimble yet solid and powerful, is exceptional. To expose yourself to this kind of movement clarifies many aspects of martial arts. If you are serious about developing your martial arts you could go to the seminars just for this, and come away satisfied and inspired.
There will be 5 sessions that you can attend individually, or all of them. Each session Luo will share his profound understanding of movement, tactics and strategy through practical exercises to understand and develop Bagua as a martial method, meditative way and to cultivate health.
Friday July 3rd 19H00-22H00 Single palm change and circle walking - Single Palmchange is the core of Bagua, and the longer you practise the more you will find inside it. Take advantage of Luo’s depth of understanding to improve your own.
Saturday July 4th 10H-13H00 Bagua throwing methods -Bagua throws vary from trips and sweeps to close body throws. They do not depend on a person wearing special clothes or a uniform to work. Luo shows the set ups to throws, how they can be combined and trained, as well as their relationship to striking methods and Bagua’s forms.
Saturday July 4th 14H30-17H30 Xian-tien Bagua – Snake and dragon form. The first two circular forms of Gao style Bagua have an elegant, sinuous quality. They develop, flexibility, mobility and fluidity through several planes of movement. They also include a number of principles for throwing and striking.
Sunday July 5th 10H-13H00 Ho-tien Bagua – Third line of Gao style. The linear forms of Gao style Bagua are short sequences of 3-8movements that directly develop tactical movement and power for application. This line of the system concentrates on circular body movement that can be used for mobility, striking and throwing.
Sunday July 5th 14H30-17H30 Ho-tien Bagua – Third line of Gao style.
The seminar will take place at la maison du Taiji, 57 rue Jules Ferry, 93170 Bagnolet on the East side of Paris. Prices: 1 session €60, 2 sessions €90, 3 sessions €135, Full weekend €170, Weekend+ Friday €212. Discounts for regular students, students, the unemployed and teachers who bring their students, call or e-mail me to qualify.
To hold places please send deposit of €50 then cash on day. Make and send cheques to Edward Hines, 111 rue Caulaincourt, 75018 Paris.
See you there!
Here are some links to hotels near the venue (less than 25mins by foot). This is not athe most pretty part of Paris, so if you want to combine the trip with tourism and romance I suggest that book closer to the centre of town.
